These days online payments are very common in web applications. There are a lot of payment gateways available in the market. Razorpay<\/a> is one of them.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this blog, we will learn how to integrate razorpay with your Ruby on Rails application. We will use \u2018razorpay<\/a>\u2019 gem Rails for using this payment gateway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s start with the setup!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 1:<\/strong> Generate API key for razorpay gem Rails integration. If you have already generated an API key, you will get it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2:<\/strong> Let\u2019s generate a new rails application for razorpay integration.<\/p>\n\n\n

$ rails new RazorPayDemo<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n

Step 3:<\/strong> Add the following gems in your gemfile:<\/p>\n\n\n

gem 'razorpay'<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n

Step 4:<\/strong> Add api key to 'credentials.yml'<\/code> file. As this is a demo application we are adding credentials as shown below. If you are having different keys for different environments you can place this block as per environment.<\/p>\n\n\n

razorpay:
  Key_id: RAZORPAY_KEY_ID
  secret_key: RAZORPAY_SECRET_KEY<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n

Step 5:<\/strong> For setting razorpay keys add 'razorpay.rb'<\/code> file under 'config\/initializers'<\/code> folder.<\/p>\n\n\n

key_id = Rails.application.credentials.dig(:razorpay, :key_id)
secret_key = Rails.application.credentials.dig(:razorpay, :secret_key)
Razorpay.setup(key_id, secret_key)<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n

Hurray! We are done with the set up. Let\u2019s make payment! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will make a payment of 100 Rs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: Razorpay international payments gateway<\/strong> accepts amounts in currency subunits.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are generating a payment of 100 Rs so we will pass 10000 as an amount.<\/p>\n\n\n

order = Razorpay::Order.create amount: 10000, currency: 'INR', receipt: 'TEST'<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n

For getting all orders:<\/p>\n\n\n

orders = Razorpay::Order.all<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n

For getting details of a particular order we will pass order_id as argument. <\/p>\n\n\n

order = Razorpay::Order.fetch(ORDER_ID)<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n

Let\u2019s fetch all the payments associated with this order.<\/p>\n\n\n

payments = order.payments<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n

For getting details of a particular payment and then capturing it.<\/p>\n\n\n

payment = Razorpay::Payment.fetch(\"PAYMENT_ID\")payment.capture!<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n

Here it will capture the whole amount associated with this payment. If you want to capture partial amount we can do this by:<\/p>\n\n\n

Razorpay::Payment.fetch(\"PAYMENT_ID\").capture({amount: PARTIAL_AMOUNT})<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n

Note that here we need to provide an amount in currency subunit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s initiate a full refund!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

payment = Razorpay::Payment.fetch(\"PAYMENT_ID\")payment.refund!<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n

We can use \u2018Razorpay::Refund\u2019<\/code> class for generating refunds.<\/p>\n\n\n

refund = Razorpay::Refund.create(payment_id:\"PAYMENT_ID\")<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n

For generating partial refund, pass amount as argument.<\/p>\n\n\n

Razorpay::Payment.fetch(\"PAYMENT_ID\").refund({amount:PARTIAL_AMOUNT})<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n

Getting all refunds associated with a payment.<\/p>\n\n\n

payment = Razorpay::Payment.fetch(\"PAYMENT_ID\")
payment.refunds<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n

We can check the status of a payment by using the 'status'<\/code> method.<\/p>\n\n\n

payment = Razorpay::Payment.fetch(\"PAYMENT_ID\")
payment.status<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n
