Now let&#8217;s have a look how&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mbtest.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">MounteBank<\/a>&nbsp;can help us to mock a microservice without writing any code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is MounteBank?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Mountebank is the first open source tool to provide cross-platform, multi-protocol test doubles over the wire. Simply point your application under test to mountebank instead of the real dependency, and test like you would with traditional stubs and mocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Basically it provides a server that can be configured using a DSL to simulate requests and responses over variety of protocols (http, https, tcp and smtp).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How it&nbsp;works?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"173\" src=\"https:\/\/www.botreetechnologies.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Mounte-Bank.gif\" alt=\"Mounte Bank\" class=\"wp-image-14029\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Installation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are various ways to&nbsp;install MounteBank on different platforms. We recommend to use via npm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.npmjs.com\/getting-started\/installing-node\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Install npm<\/a><\/li><li>Install MounteBank globally<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>$ npm mountebanck -g<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Start MounteBank<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>$ mb &#8211;allowCORS &#8211;allowInjection &#8211;mock<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>By default it starts on the port 2525.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now let&#8217;s learn some basic terminologies used by MounteBank DSL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><b>Response<\/b>\u200a-\u200aDefines status code, headers and body<\/li><li><b>Predicate<\/b>\u200a-\u200aConditions to check request to match some criteria based on which response will be returned<\/li><li><b>Stub<\/b>\u200a-\u200aAlso called Imposter is a Collection of predicates and responses for simulating an API<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The DSL is very rich and we cannot cover everything here. For more details visit the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mbtest.org\/docs\/api\/contracts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">API contract<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now let us mock Get All Posts and Get a Specific Post API.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Get All&nbsp;Post<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a sample JSON to mock a RESTful service to get all posts,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><script src=\"https:\/\/gist.github.com\/AmitPatel-BoTreeConsulting\/9e89540d301b27aca3d96ce69256e501.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This JSON is easy to understand.
