When that happens, we need to make sure that the computers have goals aligned with ours.\u201d &#8211; <em>Stephen Hawking<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1950, Alan Turing, the renowned computer pioneer, created a program that was a result of his curious question &amp; answer game, \u201cCan Machines Think?\u201d The system included artificial intelligent programming which measured how far a machine can simulate the behavior of humans. This program widely came to be popularized as the Turing Test, named after Alan Turing himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Turing Test is a test designed to demonstrate whether a machine can stimulate a conversation and convince a person that he or she is communicating with a human. It is a modification of Alan Turing\u2019s famous game that involved a man, woman &amp; a judge who had to determine whether he was talking to a man or a woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Idea behind the Turing Test<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Turing test is built on natural language processing which is an inherent feature of any artificial intelligence system. Turing proposed that a machine can be deemed \u201cintelligent\u201d if it can win a person\u2019s confidence by making her believe that the conversation is happening with an actual human.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The original test involved a human &amp; computer who will have a conversation with a judge. The judge will have a series of conversation with both of them. In the end, the judge will have to decide based on the communication whether he was talking to a machine or human. If he fails to distinguish the machine developed on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.botreetechnologies.com\/artificial-intelligence-solutions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">artificial intelligence programming<\/a> from a human more than 30% of the time, the machine is said to have passed the Turing Test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How Does The Turing Test Work?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Turing test comprises of three players i.e. a computer, a human and an interrogator. The interrogator is unaware of both the participants and is seated on a computer. She will have a five-minute keyboard conversation with both the human and computer in which a series of questions will be asked &amp; a conversation will take place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the machine is able to convince the 30% of the interrogators that they were talking to a human, the machine has successfully passed the Turing test. Turing proposed that the machine will be able to have a conversation so adeptly that the interrogator will only have a 70% chance of identifying whether it\u2019s a machine or a human.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Has Anyone Ever Passed The Turing Test?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not until recently, an artificial intelligence based system by the name of Eugene has passed the Turing Test. In 2015, after 65 years of its inception, the Turing test was passed by this Russian artificial intelligent robot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eugene stimulated the behavior of a 13-year-old Ukrainian boy and convinced 33% of the judges that they were talking to a human.
